About Kukup Property
Kukup, located in the district of Pontian which in turn is located in Johor, is a modest fishing village cum town. As always is the case with seaside areas, it is very well known in the state for its seafood, particularly its open air and floating restaurant concept when it comes to dining since most are built on “stilts” on the seabed itself. That is also how many of its residents reside. It is so popular as a tourist spot as it even has its own resort and golf club. It does have a developed area though, particularly the south-west side. But it has the most peculiar origin. It is more of an independent project of a Singaporean businessman, who set up a shipping port and various other companies after getting rights over the land.
In turn, retail shops gradually started emerging and the port proved popular, receiving cargo from surrounding countries. With its unexpectedly rapid boom, housing made its way there as well. The area is so developed; it even lent its name to the district but was replaced by “Pontian” with the completion of the road, Jalan Pontian. Getting to the town can be done via the Federal Route 5 if in a vehicle and via a ferry if through the sea. The area is not to be confused with Pulau Kukup, an islet that is off shore from Johor and popular among tourists for its variety of birds and plants.
