Paul,
There are a few International schools in KL, PJ and the suburbs ie. American International schools at Ampang/ Ulu Kelang & Taman Melawati, Garden and Mont Kiara International schools at Mont Kiara, ELC International schools at Sierramas, Sg Buloh, The Alice Smith school at Equine Park, Seri Kembangan, British International school at Bukit Utama, Bandar Utama.
You may not necessary stay within walking distance from the schools although that could be an option. Some areas which are popular with expatriates living have school transportation to the international schools. There are condominiums and landed homes to consider depending on your budget. Some of the popular homes among expatriates are the KLCC area, Ukay Heights/Taman TAR/Ampang, Bangsar, Damansara Heights, TTDI, Valencia/Sierramas, Mont Kiara and selected areas in Petaling Jaya.
