Sungai Buloh, translating to Bamboo River, is located in Selangor and is one of the state's main towns. Having been a holding ground for lepers during the British Occupation, the then "Enlightenment policy" driven segregated area has kept with its principle, having formed a Leprosy Research Institute. The town has certainly undergone a change, both landscape wise and even with its image, as it was and still is commonly perceived as a village well known for only it's past.
Now though, the area is ironically famous on the other end, for its luxury housing. They include Sierramas, the Valencia and Villamas that all provide quality amenities like gated security, swimming pools, jogging tracks and even minimarkets. Schooling is a breeze with its many offerings, even including the ELC International School. It is also home to the Sungai Buloh Wetland Reserve for recreational activities and educational tours. The area provides KTM Komuter service.
