Subang is an affluent suburban city in the Klang Valley, Selangor. It is situated in the district of Petaling. The city is governed by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), which also governs areas of the Petaling district not under Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam.
Subang Parade, Empire Subang and the hypermarket chain Carrefour serve as the main shopping attractions in Subang Jaya. Sunway Pyramid, is also a popular shopping complex for local and foreign tourists. Nearby USJ, other shopping complexes like The Summit Subang USJ, and local hypermarket chain Giant and Mydin, provide alternative shopping destinations for the residents of Subang Jaya. There are numerous varieties of foods in around Subang Jaya for diners such as alfresco dining, modern contemporary and fusion Asian-Western food. One of the most famous food courts, "Asia Cafe" is located where there is a wide variety of famous local hawker stalls and entertainment outlets, such as internet cafes and pool centres.For sports, there are a few futsal, badminton, squash and tennis courts in USJ and Subang Jaya. Golfers also could enjoy the green in the exclusive Subang Racquet and Golf Club, Bandar Sunway or Glenmarie Golf & Country Club. Besides having some of the most exciting and interesting hotspots, Subang Jaya also has quite a number of schools / colleges / universities.
Subang Jaya is well-connected to the cities of Kuala Lumpur, Shah Alam and the townships of Petaling Jaya via a network of major highways. Subang Jaya is also served by an urban-suburb rail link, the KTM Komuter, which provides transportation towards Port Klang and also Kuala Lumpur. Also, it is nearby (and within the municipality), Ara Damansara and Kota Damansara. It serves as the main hub for turboprop airlines Firefly (a low-cost carrier subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines) and Berjaya Air and is the premier hub for corporate and private aviation in Southeast Asia.
