      Ipoh is the capital city of Perak. It is approximately 200 km (125 miles) north of Kuala Lumpur on the North-South Expressway. Ipoh developed into one of Malaysia's main cities around the turn of the 19th century due to the booming tin mining industry. During the British colonial era, Ipoh was Malaysia's second city for administrative purposes. There are several notable buildings from the British Colonial era such as the railway station and the town hall. 70% of Ipoh's population is of Chinese origin.
       
      Being a town that are mostly Chinese, Ipoh is noted for many interesting Chinese dishes, such as "Sar Hor Fun" - a flat white rice noodle served in soup with shredded chicken and prawns, "Hor Hee" - flat white rice noodles served with fish cakes and/or fish balls, "Nga Choi Kai" - a chicken fillet with soy sauce and beansprouts with pepper spread on top and many more. Ipoh is also well-knowned for its white coffee. Besides having many interesting food, Ipoh is also famous for its landmarks, such as the Birch Memorial Clock Tower, ancient Chinese Shophouses, Kellie's Castle, and etc. 
       
      To get into Ipoh, there are flights available that operates twice daily to and from the Singapore Changi Airport terminal. Besides flights, there trains (KTM & ETS) that regularly travels between Ipoh and KL Sentral in an affordable price depending on the class.  Bus services are also available. There are many companies to choose from, such as Transnational, Plusliner Starshuttle and many more. The main Ipoh bus terminal is located at Medan Gopeng. The station provides services to and from just about any location in the country. By car, Ipoh is well connected to the North-South Expressway. You can get into Ipoh Simpang Pulai or Ipoh Selatan.
