    District Guide

      One of the many "New Villages" of Malaysia, Serdang New Village is now better known as Seri Kembangan. But as the area bleeds into the space of Selangor as well, as like many areas, the Selangor side keeps true to the Serdang naming. As the change in name suggests, the town has certainly reinvented itself from its days of being an isolated relocation project as result of the Brigg's Plan of the 1950s. From its beginnings as a place where the trades of choice were tapping rubber, mining and shoe making; it now has a population largely made up of businessman working in companies established in Putrajaya and Cyberjaya.

      By 2005, the town has slowly morphed into a sub city, now hosting the likes of corporate giants McDonalds, Maybank, AEON and a Giant hypermarket. It also has Hospital Serdang in its midst. This is not without retaining its small town charm through kopitiams and a wholesale market named Pasar Borong Selangor. Travel around the area has also been revolutionized with the construction of a network of roads connecting all parts of Serdang together. The mini city completes itself with a golf club, the Universiti Putra Malaysia (hence, the moniker UPM Serdang Selangor) and Mines Resort City a short drive away.
