The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur in Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin is finally ready to re-open by December, after a successful RM250 million restoration exercise, reported The Sun Daily.
Along this line, YTL Hotels and Properties Sdn Bhd, the hospitality arm of YTL Corp Bhd, has signed a membership agreement with US-based The Leading Hotels of The World Ltd (LHW), which means that Majestic Hotel will be the only one in Kuala Lumpur to be listed in its portfolio of luxury hotels in the world.
Datuk Mark Yeoh, Executive Director of YTL Hotels said that the 70-year-old hotel is poised to recoup its position as one of Southeast Asia's grandest hotels after it reopens.
"The partnership with LHW will benefit the Majestic Hotel in terms of recognition of international clientele," added Yeoh.
LHW is the leading luxury hospitality organisation in the world, representing over 430 of the finest hotels, resorts and spas across 80 countries. Members of LHW must follow strict quality standards and master the art of extraordinary hospitality.
On another note, Tetap Tiara Sdn Bhd, owner and developer of Jaya One, will develop the first learning enrichment mall in Malaysia dubbed as ‘The School' as part of the commercial hub's extension.
The mall is expected to ready by September 2013.
Designed to attract young urban mothers and families, the mall promotes learning in a fun, hygienic and safe environment. As such, 30 percent of its tenant mix is expected to comprise enrichment centres, according to Charles Wong, Executive Director at Tetap Tiara.
He added that the 300,000 sq ft extension to the existing Jaya One has a net lettable area of 190,000 sq ft spread over five floors. The expected rental rates are expected to range from RM8 psf to RM12 psf.
