Kuala Kabu Bharu (Baru) or KKB is located in Selangor. Unfortunately known for the massive flood that the town endured in the late 1800s due to a broken dam, the name it has presently is actually one that was given upon the rebuilding of the area near the original devastated town after the fact with Bharu translating to “new”. New name, new town, new beginning. The only things reminding people of its difficult past lie in a monument erected in the victims’ honour along with the Buddhist temple and mosque that survived the flood and is located in the older town. It now has a town centre, newer dams; the New Dam and the Sungai Selangor Dam and even KTM Komuter service with its own station.

Transportation options are unassumingly plentiful with taxis, buses (Metrobus and MARA) and of course, the train. As for driving options, roads used are Federal Routes 1 and 55. More so, it is a place of natural wonder with hot springs (Ulu Kalong hot springs) and even a waterfall (Sungei Sendat waterfall). Rafting, hiking and various recreational options abound due to its stunning natural landscape. It also has a Maybank along with food haunts Chow Zhou Hawker, Wong Ng Kee Restaurant and whole foods market Kuala Kabu Bharu Foods.
