Jinjang is a town located in Kepong , in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. Jinjang is separated into North Jinjang and South Jinjang. Jinjang got its name from a pig brought to Malaya by a Chinese merchant in the 19th century before Malaysia was officially formed and it was believed to bring prosperity. The town was established as part of the Briggs’ Plan enforced by the British during the Malayan Emergency to relocate the ethnic Chinese in Malaya to isolate them from communist influence. Neighbouring Bandar Menjalara , Jinjang is a well-established residential neighbourhood with a variety of different residential projects.
Jinjang is highly accessible by a network of main roads and major highways such as the Kesas Highway, Selayang-Kepong Highway, Jalan Lang Emas and Jalan Kuching. Situated in Kuala Lumpur itself, getting to the heart of Kuala Lumpur City only takes less than 20 minutes by car. Jinjang is also close to bustling townships like Damansara Utama and Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) where many major malls are located and only is about 15 minutes away from them. In terms of public transport, those who do not drive can use the Kepong Baru MRT to get around. Furthermore, there is a KTM station in Kepong which is about 5 minutes away from Jinjang. Public busses also serve the area with many bus stops.
Being a long standing residential neighbourhood, Jinjang is not lacking in amenities for the convenience of its residents. For recreational activities, The Central Park is 9 minutes away from Jinjang. The Central Park is a family and pet friendly park suitable for picnics, jogs and strolls. Other than AEON Mall, residents of Jinjang can head to Brem Mall Kepong nearby or head to One Utama Shopping Mall which is not far away for a more complete shopping experience.
For healthcare services, Jinjang Health Clinic and Poliklinik Dan Surgeri Jinjang is within the vicinity, providing ease of mind to the residents of Jinjang should medical emergencies arise. For places of worship, the Xin Tai Temple, Chinese Methodist Church Jinjang (CMCJ) and Sri Selva Vinayagar Alayam can be found here, catering to the diverse population of Jinjang.
