Jalan Sultan Ismail

Jalan Sultan Ismail is the backbone to Kuala Lumpur’s central business district (CBD) and it is a well-known road especially for KLites. Jalan Sultan Ismail is a very long stretch of road starting from the junction of Chow Kit cutting through all the way to the end of Bukit Bintang.Wisma Genting which is the headquarters of Genting Berhad, a permanent fixture along Jalan Sultan Ismail is located here alongside several other prominent office buildings and hotels such as Shang-ri la Hotel, Hotel Istana and the newly renovated EQ amongst others.  

Jalan Sultan Ismail is easily connected via major roads such as Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Raja Chulan, Kampung Bahru, Lebuh Ampang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Ipoh and Jalan Pahang. Jalan Sultan Ismail is also connected by a comprehensive network of public transportations. One can get on the local bus line or the Go KL City Bus, which takes you across the city’s major districts, shopping enclaves, train stations and landmarks, free of charge! In addition, Jalan Sultan Ismail is conveniently served by several monorail stations namely Chow Kit station, Medan Tuanku station, Bukit Nanas station, Raja Chulan station and Bukit Bintang station, allowing for seamless travel between the areas. The area is also served by the Bandaraya and Sultan Ismail LRT stations along the Ampang line while Dang Wangi and KLCC stations along the Kelana Jaya line is provides a convenient connection to Jalan Sultan Ismail. There is also the newly opened Bukit Bintang MRT station along the Bukit Bintang shopping stretch.

Jalan Sultan Ismail is a vibrant area with much to offer along the stretch and is a popular with working professionnals and tourists alike. There is every thing and anything along this stretch from schools, eateries, shopping malls, entertainment and many more.

Jalan Sultan Ismail is home to many reputed schools such as St John’s Institution, Convent Bukit Nenas, Appar Tamil Primary School, Batu Road Boys’ Primary School and SJKC Chung Kwok. Other schools within vicinity include Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur, SMK Puteri Wilayah and SK (P) Jalan Batu. There are also several tertiary institutions along Jalan Sultan Ismail such as INTI International College Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Open University Malaysia, IEG Campus and Bostonweb Academy. Further to that, there are also several hospitality schools, design schools, culinary schools and hair academy around the area.

Since Jalan Sultan Ismail is a major corporate hub, the stretch is lined with many office buildings such as Menara HSBC, Wisma Genting, Menara Hup Seng, Menara AIA Sentral,KL 33, Menara IMC, Menara TH Perdana, Kenanga International, Equatorial Plaza to name but a few. Many of the these corporate giants also have their headquarters here. Other nearby offices include Petronas Twin Towers, Maju Towers, Menara Dion and many more all of which are within a 5km radius

There are several supermarkets along Jalan Sultan Ismail mostly located inside the many high-rise buildings in the area such as Selections, Mercato @ Pavillion mall, Hero Market @ Berjaya Times Square, Maxvalue Prime Quill City Mall and Giant @ Sg Wang Plaza. There are also plenty of convenience stores and mini markets here.

For medical treatments, the nearest hospital to head to for emergencies include Tung Shin Hospital in Jalan Pudu, Prince Court Medical Centre, IJN and KL General Hospital. Aside from that there are numerous clinics and dental clinics for minor illnesses around the area.

Along Jalan Sultan Ismail are also several shopping centres which offers a wide range of retail brands, eateries, entertainment and services options such as Quill City Mall, Pavillion KL, Ferenheit 88, Lot 10, Starhill and Sg Wang Plaza. 

As for recreation, along Jalan Sultan Ismail are some the Taman Eko Rimba, a forest located within a city, KLCC Park, Rageroom, KL Forest Eco Park campsite, ASEAN Sculpture Garden and a handful of karaoke, cinemas and indoor kids playground.

Being a commercial area there are plenty of food choices here from cheap affordable food courts for lunch when at work to high end luxury dinner venues for entertaining clients. Hard Rock Café Kuala Lumpur is also located here in the premise of Concorde Hotel KL. The Wisma Cosway Food Court offers a variety of affordable local food to the working lunch crowd, Xiao Long Kan Hotpot, Nasi Hadramot Restaurant,Tamarind Hill, Restaurant Lafite and Fook. There are also popular coffee and fast-chains in the area such as Starbucks, Coffee Bean and McDonalds.
