Teluk Bahang is located on Penang Island, Penang. The town, which is known for its beaches and parks, is also unfortunately known as being one of the many areas that the tsunami of 2004 devastated. Being a shore town, like any other, its main trade is fishing and it is famous for its seafood. But unlike the rest, this area offers a little more. It is home to the Penang Butterfly Farm, the Teluk Bahang Dam, the Penang National Park, the Tropical Spice Garden and the Penang Forest Museum along with a few orchid and fruit plantations.
These serve as avenues educationally, recreationally and also double as tourist attractions. Among all mentioned it is most famous for the dam. It is the largest in the whole of the Island and has land around it normally used for jogging and walking. It is also used for water sport activity, most popularly, the International Dragon Boat Festival. Along Jalan Teluk Bahang, lies the Mahligai Baiduri condominium complex. Rapid Penang service travels along this very road from Georgetown to the township.
