Seri Manjong

Seri Manjong (also known as Seri Manjung) is near Lumut in the state of Perak. Since the 1990s, development of this area has been accelerating due to the need to support the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Naval Base in Lumut. With the building of the Lumut Maritime Terminal (LMT) as a Royal Malaysian Customs Gazetted Port, and the Lekir Bulk Terminal (LBT) being South – East Asia;s largest dry bulk unloading facility, this propels Seri Manjong to achieve recognition as an important industrial and shipping town. Other nearby towns of Sitiawan, Lumut, and Ipoh are within easy driving distance.

Seri Manjong Town is served well by multiple main roads. Among them is the Jalan Lumut (Federal Route 5) which comes from Sitiawan town and passes by on the way to Lumut and its Naval Base. An alternative road to Lumut is the West Coast Expressway (Lumut Bypass / Federal Route 100). Other nearby towns include Ayer Tawar, Beruas, Batu Gajah, Gopeng, and Simpang Pulai town which can access to the North – South Expressway (AH2).

Seri Manjong is surrounded by much greenery and places where families can spend time together playing with their children, to build deeper relationships. This includes the nearby Kawasan Lapang Fasa 2j, Permata Garden. Sites with have water nearby include the nearby Mangrove Park, Teluk Batik Marine Park, the beach at Teluk Batik, or at the Lumut Waterfront Esplanade Wing. There are also tourist attractions at the Disneyland Ayer Tawar. All in all, Seri Manjong has the attractions and places to enjoy and create memories, and stronger bonding with family members, relatives and friends.

Grocery shopping in families and residents of Seri Manjong can be done easily due to the large number of supermarkets and grocery shops, such as Econsave, Manjung Mini Mart, and Pasar Mini SKR. While some families prefer fresher food from the wet market, that is also possible through Pasar Seri Manjung, Bazar Ramadan IKM Lumut, Loon Fresh & Frozen Market, MyFarm Outlet Seri Manjung, and Pasar Malam RF.

Seri Manjong has many ethnic restaurants giving a large variety of ethnic foods for its residents. This includes Japanese restaurants like My Sushi, Kaiseki Ryori Teppanyaki Fine Dining; Running Man Go Halal Restaurant for Korean food; Malay food at Nasi Kukus Pok Ya, Iwan Grill Place, Tomyam Hasnah, Tok Aki Western Food and Grill, and De’ Kasturi Café which is a health food restaurant. For those craving fast food, there’s McDonald;s & McCafe Seri Manjung and KFC. Cafes nearby number about a dozen, and that includes Fatty Café, ABC Leleh Café, and Garden Cottage. Malls nearby will offer more variety such as the nearby AEON Mall Seri Manjung, D’Mara Bazar Lumut, and Kompleks Pernama TLDM.

Families with children staying in Seri Manjong consider themselves fortunate to have plenty of kindergartens and pre-schools nearby for their children to get educated, and these include the Brainy Bunch Sri Manjung, and Genius Aulad, Tadika Montessori. For their continuing education at primary and secondary schools, there’s Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Samudera, SJK (C) Chinese National Kg Koh, and City Harbour International School. Universities nearby include Open University Malaysia, and University Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology (UniKL-MIMET).

Many work opportunities are available for residents who choose to stay in Seri Manjong. Other than the opportunities generated by the Navy Base in Lumut, and the shipping and logistics industry related jobs, there is also the industrial zone, the Lumut Port Industrial Park (LPIP). LPIP hosts many companies involved with petroleum, gas, bio-diesel and palm-oil processing. Therefore, other industries such as real estate, hotels, tourism, and businesses will take further advantage of the unique resources and location of Seri Manjung.
