New Judge Assigned to TTDI vs DBKL Case

A new judge has been assigned to handle the judicial review of the Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) proposed development, which has been set for a substantive hearing on 13 June, reported The Edge.

This comes as High Court judge Datuk Wira Kamaludin Md Said has been promoted to the Court of Appeal, said Leon Koay, lead strategist and coordinator of Save TRK.

“A new/different judge will be assigned to handle the hearing of the judicial review. [KL High Court] Registrar does not know who the new judge will be and will advise parties at a later date.”

The KL High Court on 14 December 2017 had dismissed the residents’ stay application pending a judicial review of the development order granted to Memang Perkasa Sdn Bhd by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). Notably, Malton Bhd owns a 51 percent stake in Memang Perkasa.

The Court also ordered the residents to pay RM40,000 in legal fees incurred for the stay application.

Memang Perkasa had, however, commenced works in TRK despite a pending court hearing – a move that further infuriated the residents.

A development notice board in the park says that an affordable housing scheme will be developed at the site as part of the controversial high-rise residential development.

At the main entrance of the park, another notice board stated that the Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad/Hj Openg entrance will be closed while an alternative road behind the guardhouse, from the longhouse site will be opened.
