Tropicana Corporation Berhad brings together a range of diverse real estate subsidiaries, but is arguably best known for pioneering resort-style properties throughout Malaysia.

Since the debut of the Tropicana Golf & Country Resort and Tropicana Indah Resort Homes little over two decades ago, the forty-year-old developer has continued to redefine the concept, expanding it through the creation of integrated township developments that incorporate residential and commercial components.

With more than 60 projects under its belt, Tropicana remains to be one of the most prolific developers in Malaysia.

In the last 12 months alone, it has launched Elemen Residences at Tropicana Aman and Lakefield Residences at Tropicana Heights, in addition to handing over Sinaria and Cheria Residences at Tropicana Aman and Tropicana the Residences in KLCC.

Tropicana’s productive streak was duly rewarded at this year’s PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) virtual event, with the company picking up an impressive four Highly Commended accolades and nine Winner trophies, including two of the highly-competitive Central Malaysia development categories and the coveted Best Developer title.

“Creating developments that inspire with a DNA that is all about open spaces and a sense of resort-style residential experiences, Selangor’s Tropicana Corporation focuses so cohesively and innovatively on defining the art of living in Malaysia’s established and newly emerging neighbourhoods,” according to the Awards’ judging panel.

“From the design to the layout, architecture, facilities and amenities, every aspect of each project is integrated with excellence and integrity.”

It is the second time Tropicana has walked away with the Best Developer award, the first coming in 2017.

The developer also bagged three trophies at the 2019 instalment of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Malaysia). The company featured prominently in the 2020 Special Recognition categories too, demonstrating its commitment to local society, the environment, and corporate social responsibility.

Solid business values underpin corporate governance, while environmental and social aims are also high on the agenda.

Environmentally-friendly projects include Kloth Cares, a social entrepreneurship movement that aims to keep fabrics out of landfills, and use of the iCYCLE platform to enable, track and monitor waste separation and recycling.

Focused on creating more compassionate and supportive communities, the company coordinates CSR activities through its Tropicana Foundation. Other causes include raising funds for the National Council of the Blind Malaysia, as well as an elderly care home.

The subsidiary behind Tropicana Danga Cove, meanwhile, was recognised in the Best Retail Development category for Iskandar Malaysia-based commercial district Oasis 3 and Best Housing Architectural Design trophy for Ayera Residences. The freehold terraced housing development also took top spot in the Best Mid-End Landed Development (Southern).

“Ayera Residences is a prime example of how minimalist architecture and landscaping can create light, spacious rooms that are both highly versatile and functional,” the judges noted.

“Developer Tropicana Danga Cove creates two-storey homes in suburban Johor knowing what elements count and excelling in these factors in terms of design and quality.”

Rounding up the Best Developer’s 2020 rout was a Best Mixed Use Development win for Tropicana Gardens, Best Hotel Development for Courtyard by Marriott, Penang @ Tropicana 218 Macalister and Highly Commended in the Best Mega Township Development for Tropicana Aman.

The company was also recognised as one the country’s leading large-scale developers with a Highly Commended in the Best Mega Township Developer category.
