Seri Iskandar is one of a famous town in https://www.propertyguru.com.my/perak, Malaysia. It is a district capital of Perak Tengah which is located halfway between the state capital, Ipoh city and Lumut. It can be reach through Ipoh-Lumut highway, which is located at about 36km southwest of Ipoh. There are few university and college are in Seri Iskandar, such as Universiti Teknologi Petronas, a branch campus of Universiti Teknologi MARA and Kolej Profesional MARA. This town have good prospect of town, one day it will emerge like Kampar, which is University Town.
Seri Iskandar was named after Sultan Iskandar Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris Murshidul Azzam Shah Rahmatullah, who is the 30th sultan in perak. He ruled the state of Perak from 1918 until 1938. In the mid-eighties before it got its name, several institutions started the townshop. In 1986, the Engineering Branch Campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia started its operation on a disused tin mine at about 5 km south of Tronoh. In 1987, A religious secondary school, SMKA Sultan Azlan Shah, occupied a newly built school buildings at about 7 km east of Bota Kanan. A teacher living quarters and radio transmission station were built within this area. The state government came out with a plan of a township with its own name in 1988. This township plan including a large industrial park, a university with commercial parks and housing estates with an airport. However, the progress was slow, and only few investors were come in. Prior to the 80’s, the eastern part of Seri Iskandar was an extension of Tronoh Mines. The USM Engineering Campus was surrounded by disused mining pools in the early 90’s. Except for a school, Palm oil plantations covered the western part at this time. To travel from Tronoh to Bota, one must go through Seputih and Parit, to reach Bota.
It was not until the construction of a highway between Ipoh and Lumut that connected Tronoh to Bota directly, that further development took off. In the year 1996, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) started its operation in the USM Campus building. USM Engineering Branch was to move to a new campus in Penang and the move was completed by 2001. After that PETRONAS acquired lands adjacent to the USM campus to build a new campus for UTP and was completely by 2003. In 2001, there are another university moved to Seri Iskandar, which is Universiti Teknologi MARA (Perak Campus). It is moved from Seri Manjung to Seri Iskandar. Due to the sudden increase of population by these two universities, the numbers of food stalls and restaurants surged.
Residential areas were established starting with Taman Maju (1994), RPA Changkat Sodang (1995), JKR & Teachers’ Quarters (1996), Bandar Universiti (2001), Desa Seri Iskandar (2002), Bandar Seri Iskandar (2003), Taman Gemilang (2008) and Puncak Iskandar (2012). A number of public facilities were also established in Seri Iskandar starting with a primary school (1993), followed by the district office (1996), a vocational school (1996), a secondary school (1998), a health office (1999),a petrol station (2003) and a mosque (2006). To build the reputation of Seri Iskandar as a ‘Bandar Ilmu’ (The Town of Knowledge), two institutions of higher learning, Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN) and Kolej Professional MARA started operations in 2002 and 2005 respectively.
Seri Iskandar Bus Terminal (locally known as Stesen Bas Seri Iskandar) is the main bus station for express buses to reach Seri Iskandar. The bus terminal also provides the service to serve local people in the town Seri Iskandar. Beside this, a few common routes taken from Seri Iskandar Bus Terminal include bus services heading towards Ipoh, TBS (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan) and KL Sentral.
There one shopping mall in Seri Iskandar is D Mall Billion Bandar Seri Iskandar. This mall providing various of stores such as department store, clothing store and convenience store. This is very convenient for people in Seri Iskandar and satisfy their desire of shopping. Nevertheless, this mall has a cinema named mmCineplexes. The cinema provides lots of movie which suitable for all aged people in Seri Iskandar. The people can spend their leisure time in this mall.
Families and students living in Seri Iskandar can easily get their groceries shopping in Tesco Seri Iskandar. Beside the convenience store, there are various shop in Tesco Seri Iskandar, such as Watson, Mr DIY, Garden Café and etc..
Properties Seri Iskandar are mostly leasehold, which explains the high property prices in the neighbourhood with a median price of MYR 170,000 or median price psf of MYR 177. With about 27 projects in Seri Iskandar, this neighbourhood offers a vast variety of property projects for both investors and home owners with the likes of Gemilang Residence, Iskandar Perdana, Puncak Iskandar, Taman Tronoh University and Lakeville.
