Pulau Pangkor is an island off the coast of Perak in north-west peninsular Malaysia, reached by ferry from Lumut (a small coastal town that links to Ipoh, or from Sitiawan). It is heavily promoted as a low-key tourist destination by the Malaysian government, but fishing and fish products remain major industries. Some of its tourist attractions inlcude Pangkor Town, Fishing Villages, Fu Lin Kong Temple, Kali Amman Temple, Batu Bersurat, Tiger Rock, Dutch Fort (Kota Belanda), The Tombs, and Tortoise Hill. As for its beautiful beaches, some of the choices are such as Coral Bay, Pasir Bogak, Teluk Nipah, Teluk Belanga. Also on the island, activities that are available include jungle trekking, motorbike tour, bicycle tour, taxi tour, and Hornbill feeding. On the island, unmetered taxis (microvans) are widely available at the airport and in Pangkor Town once you get off the ferry.
