Yong Peng is located in Johor and can be accessed via the North South Expressway as the highway has two interchanges that link to the town. Most known for its rather flamboyant history, it is now considered as one of Malaysia’s many but slowly diminishing underdeveloped towns. So much so that agriculture is still considered as one of the main occupations that residents adopt. These plantations are mainly that of rubber, palm and cocoa.

Its rather turbulent history goes back all the way to the 1800s when many China born people came down to work on developing the area (resulting in the area’s still predominant Chinese population) to it becoming a New Village in the 1950s and even was the site for various gang wars in the 1970s. Thankfully all this is in its past and now is nothing more than a quiet and quaint area that boasts well known Chinese style cuisine along with primary and secondary school education.
