The current status of The Manhattan

Well, sadly The Manhattan has no longer has its sales gallery that was built at the actual construction site.

“We tore down the gallery once the construction begun. We started to do the piling and we knew it was not possible to have the gallery at the site,” said an UEL representative when contacted.

In fact, getting hold of the developer for more information on The Manhattan could lead to inconvenience for potential buyers. The contact number stated on the signboard at the site is no longer in used and information on the website is also outdated.

“We moved to a new office. And we thought that it wouldn’t be necessary to replace the board since there aren’t many units available. The Bumiputera quotas has reached its maximum and we are left less than 10 units for the non-Bumis,” continued the representative.

There are a wide selection of units at The Manhattan. With its designs and allures, the condominium is definitely fishing for young and single working adults who have leisure and practicality in mind.  In fact, they are cashing in on one bedroom apartments (Type A and Type B) that are deemed as best suited for these working yuppies.

There are 60 units starting at 729 sq. ft. This can roughly lead to at least RM1.2 mio for a one bedroom unit. The living area is indeed spacious, where residents would still be able to entertain guests and throw some parties. In fact, it has extra space that acts as a study area. And nothing beats the feeling of going home to a hot bubble bath and this unit is no exception in providing a luxurious bathroom to the occupants. Most Type A and B units are located facing the Kuala Lumpur Tower, and the tower can be seen clearly with some exceptions of the presence of office buildings that are growing like mushrooms, and this include a Public Mutual building that is currently in the process of completion. This might get in your way.

For those who are not flying solo, there are various range of units that can adapt to your lifestyle. There are 58 units of Type C with two bedrooms, ranges from 872 sq. ft.  to 1095 sq. ft. Most units are facing Suria KLCC and Berjaya Times Square/Bukit Bintang area. It might be quiet impossible to catch a full glimpse of KLCC due to the rapid development around the area alone as every building is getting bigger and taller these days. Just be prepared to accept the fact that there would only be shadows of the iconic shopping complex from your window.

Type C units cater to smaller families or couples who need an extra room for guests. The layout varies according to its sizes. The smaller the unit gets, the tighter it becomes. Do bear in mind that there is a second room, and there might be some compromises with the location of the balcony and the sizes of the master bedroom. For instance, Type C1D, has a rather small balcony located at the master bedroom instead of the living room. And C1C has a lanai in its master bedroom.

The larger units do provide ample breathing space and in fact would be suitable for those with a small family. The second bedroom is within a liveable living space. Adequate for a child’s room. A multi-purpose IKEA keeping storage might come in handy and would do the trick in dealing with small rooms with tight spaces. And it’s another great way to curb hoarding too!

With the various allocation of units, The Manhattan is well equipped with various version of penthouses, that can both accommodate a single lifestyle to a family living.

Most of these offices are just within a walking distance or a short drive from the condominium. Well, if you are in no rush heading to the office, it would be great to walk rather than drive. At least you’ll get your heart pumping and you could definitely do some calorie burning.

Yet the area can get extremely crowded and busy on the weekdays especially during the rush hours in the morning and later on in the evening. There will always be continuous flow of traffic and it is definitely not your home away from the city madness. If you are looking for ‘zen’ in the city centre, this is definitely not the location for you. But if you do insist of staying here due to its strategic location, just have an open mind in embracing the rush hours and bottleneck jams on a daily basis.

But there might be a glimmer of hope for some peace and quiet during the weekends. Most of the offices are closed, while the clubs and bars would only be opened later during the evening. Do enjoy those precious hours of silence!

Residents of The Manhattan do need to walk a fairly tolerable distance to the monorails and LRTs. There are quite a few monorails around, these include Raja Chulan Station, Bukit Nanas Station and Bukit Bintang Station. Meanwhile, the nearest LRTs are Dang Wangi Station and KLCC Station. All within ten minutes by foot. If you are not in the mood to walk to these train stations, taxis would be your next best option. Just hail for one, by the roadside.

Suria KLCC, Avenue K, the Golden Triangle that consists of Fahrenheit, Pavilion and the ever so quirky Sungai Wang; ‘a must go to mall’ that caters to budget retailing and unbranded fashion outlets are accessible quiet easily by foot or by public transportations. Residents of The Manhattan can definitely optimise their shopping accessibility by venturing off further to Low Yat Plaza and Berjaya Times Square for some gadget and gizmos shopping. Summary

Decision… Decision… Decision… The Manhattan does push potential buyers’ budget to a limit given the existence of some ‘hiccups’ of the establishment. It would be better to consider the location, feasibility, means and purpose before tempting to purchase a unit here.

If work seems to take a toll on your life in regards to frequent late nights at the office, The Manhattan certainly ticks all the boxes for you especially when your office is a stone throw away. Why drive when you can walk to work?

For those who appreciate the ‘work hard, play hard’ mantra, the condominium is definitely a place to consider as the night scene within the area is vibrant and endless. And it fits fine for single people or young couples starting out life in the metropolitan city.
