After my leasing contract with owner ended, can owner take my deposit as penalty due to me failing to inform the owner that "I'M NOT EXTENDING" my tenure at least 2 months in advance ? This is stated in the contract between me and owner. This is not an early termination but end of rental agreement.

I only heard of owner not returning deposit due to early termination or damage to property.
