PPR Gombak Setia is a leasehold apartment located at Gombak Setia, Setapak. This project was developed by Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) which is a drastic action taken by the Malaysian government to address the shortage of housing and squatter through the National Economic Action Council (MTEN). The PPR is implemented by the Housing Company Berhad (SPNB) in collaboration with the local government. The cost of construction is borne by the Federal Government but the land is provided by the state government. PPR Gombak Setia is a family themed development with the prime target being the low income family market. With that, the project comes with various facilities such as a grocery store, food places and cafes. This project was offers by the PPR which is a government program for relocating squatters and meeting the needs of low-income housing. The National Housing Department, Ministry of Housing and Local Government are the leading implementing agencies for PPR projects throughout Malaysia. PPR consists of 2 categories: PPR Rent and PPR Owned. Gombak Setia are located at the town of Gombak Setia (also the Gombak State Assembly) is located within the state of Selangor. Beside that, there are various of amenities nearby to this property which school, grocery stores, commercial center and shopping mall. For the hypermarket and shopping mall are just around the corner which is Jusco, Aeon wangsa maju, Giant, Wangsa Walk, Kl Festival city, 99 speedmart and other grocery shops. For education there are having SK Taman Setia, SMK Gombak Setia, Tar College and UTAR. If the residents are looking for foods, this area also near to the Satay Kajang, Old town white coffee, 7-11, D’ Mamak, Mc Donald, M3 Mall and some food stall around. Gombak Setia also easy access to the various of major highway which is MRR2 highway, DUKE highway, Jalan Gombak, Persiaran Pertahanan and also Jalan Taman ibu kota. PPR Gombak Setia built up area are ranging from 600 sq ft that come with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which is very suitable for the small family to stay in. As of April 20, 2010, 21,611 of the 29,562 PPR units under DBKL were offered for sale to existing occupants. Federal Territories and Urban Well-Being Minister Datuk Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin explained that 7,951 units have yet to be sold, 2,056 units remain vacant, 4,740 units have yet to be submitted to the City Hall by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, while 1,155 units are occupied by transit squads are ineligible to accept offers. A total of 21,611 residents were offered to buy the occupied PPR units. However, only 14,450 residents are interested in buying. The Election Committee found that 10,159 residents were eligible for PPR homes. 4,013 people are eligible for conditional rent payments for more than three months while the remaining 278 applications are still pending. Also, other projects around the area that might be worth checking out include 100 Residency, 288 Residency, Alpha Villa, Ascenda Residences @ SkyArena Setapak, Block 101 Apartment and Danau Kota Flat.
