Hey guys, got an issue. My dad passed away, so we had to collect his things from the apartment that he rented in. The thing is the landlord refused to pass us the keys to the apartment to collect our dad's things and refused to return the security deposit that my dad paid 2 months before renting that apartment. The landlord's reason for not returning the 2 month deposit is because the landlord reduced the rental price during MCO. I don't have a copy of the rental agreement and the landlord said he don't know where he place it because it was so long ago (Which I don't buy). Any ideas?

This is a question for lawyers. But I will share my limited knowledge ....
With the demise of your father the next of kin has the legal right to address the tenancy agreement. If you go with the death certificate and Letter of administration the landlord will have no choice but to give you access to the premise , failing which you can lodge a police report for action.
