We bought a unit here as an investment because in Brickfields the entry price was relatively reasonable for freehold. Recent listings show prices from ~RM 500k to ~RM 1.3m depending on unit size & condition. That said, we took extra care: we picked a higher floor, facing the inner side (not the road), and ensured the unit condition was good. Units on lower floors or those facing heavy traffic seemed slower to rent and had less strong resale moves.

Amenities & Rental Potential
As a tenant-turned-owner I appreciated the amenities here: gym, pool, sauna, tennis court, children’s playground — more than many older buildings in the area. We rented for a while (~RM 2,600 for ~1,400 sq ft) before buying. On buying, we did need to factor in the high maintenance fee (~RM 0.35/psf per month) which is on the high side for older blocks, so every year we review how well the management keeps common areas and equipment in good shape.

Freehold City Entry in Brickfields
We moved into Villa Scott about five years ago and were drawn by the freehold tenure and sheer convenience — walking distance to the monorail station, KL Sentral, and Brickfields’ lively food & lifestyle scene. Our 1,195 sq ft 3-bedroom unit gives good space for KL city living. That said, the building was completed in 1998, so a few things hint at its age: lift speed is slower than newer towers, some corridor finishes look tired, and units facing Jalan Scott or the river bank do experience traffic noise and slightly less view.
