Jalan Kuching is a major artery trunk road in Kuala Lumpur. The road starts from Bank Negara all the way to Kepong roundabout. Jalan Kuching leads to several established neighbourhoods such as Segambut, Mont Kiara, Kepong, Selayang and Batu Caves. It is also one of the main procession route for the Thaipusam celebration.
Jalan Kuching can be easily reached from almost every part of the city centre like Jalan Duta, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Raja Laut, Lebuhraya Mahameru, Jalan Segambut, Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) and Jalan Kepong. It is also served by the local bus lines, taxis and e-hailing services. The nearest LRT stops is at the Bandaraya Station and Putra LRT stations in the beginning of Jalan Kuching whilst the other station to align would be Taman Wahyu station, after which one would either need to walk, take the bus or hail a taxi to their final destination.
Along Jalan Kuching are a handful of commercial areas and residences, therefore, it has a host of amenities such as schools, entertainment, retail, eateries, supermarkets and more for the community that live and work in the area.
Jalan Kuching is surrounded by several primary and secondary schools such as Segambut Primary School, Segambut Secondary School,SMS Seri Puteri, SJKC Khai Chee and Raja Abdullah Secondary School. For those exploring private or international education, around Jalan Kuching are also several international and private schools such as Marefat International School in Jalan Ipoh, Wesley Methodist School in Bandar Baru Sentul whilst the nearest are Mont Kiara International and Garden International School, both of which are popular with locals and expatriates.
Around the area are also many supermarkets, mini-markets and convenience stores for the community’s essential and groceries needs like Cold Storage Sunway Putra Mall, NSK Selayang, Tesco Extra Selayang, Ben’s Independence Grocer Publika and Segi Fresh Mart. Along the the stretch is also the Pasar Borong Selayang, a wholesale wet market where one can find meats, vegetables, seafood and fruits at wholesale prices. This market is popular with the local in and around Jalan Kuching and a favorite for those in the food business. In addition, there is also Pasar Tani Jalan Kuching which takes place once a week in the evening in one of the residential areas in Jalan Kuching where one can go for food and jungle produce. In addition, popular shopping centres around the area include Sunway Putra Mall,Brem Mall Kepong and Publika Shopping Gallery Solaris Dutamas. AEON Mall Metro Prima is also within close distance. Furthermore, AEON Mall Sg Mas in nearby Taman Kok Lian off Jalan Ipoh will be operational by Q2 2020.
Along Jalan Kuching, is Hospital Selayang further away from the Pasar Borong Selayang. It is a government facility whereby a whole range of medical treatment is available. There are also many clinics and dental clinics around the area where the community can go for medical treatments. Further to that, there are also several community clinics within close distance. Other hospitals within a 10km radius are KL General Hospital, IJN, Pusrawi Hospital and KPJ Tawakkal Specialist Hospital.
For recreation, within vicinity are 99 Wonderland Park, Seri Delima Sports Complex which houses a range of sports facilities for the community’s use and Gelanggang Futsal Flat PKNS Jalan Kuching. Meanwhile, Jalan Duta Tennis Complex is also nearby. Furthermore, there are community playgrounds and parks located within each housing estate along Jalan Kuching.
