Sri Hartamas or Golden Estates in English is a wealthy residential township in Segambut. Sri Hartamas popularity flew off the shelves in the 1990s due to the Asian boom. What was previously an isolated town with no grocer close and a milk run was 15 minutes away has turned into a desirable township when it began developing. The saving grace for Sri Hartamas was that it was located close to the expressway and due to this other development such as Mont Kiara came about. Sri Hartamas soon became a favourite for Malaysian young professionals and expatriate families.

Sri Hartamas is a town that is geographically advantageous as it is located close to four major expressways. The expressways are NKVE, PLUS, SPRINT and DUKE highway. These expressways link Sri Hartamas to downtown Kuala Lumpur and to the surrounding suburbs and major towns in Malaysia. One can easily travel to Klang Valley in a shorter time now compared to before.

Sri Hartamas was able to retain some greenery despite the town growing and developing over time. One can take a hike up Bukit Kiara Trail while enjoying nature with their friends or family. Bukit Kiara Federal Park is a place where families can go to enjoy some quality time together with their children. Apart from these parks, the ASEAN Sculpture Garden is also close to Sri Hartamas. The ASEAN Sculpture Garden houses a collection of prize-winning sculptures in wood, marble, iron and bamboo. Those who enjoy the art of sculpture would be able to appreciate this garden.

Sri Hartamas is a haven for expatriate families as there are many amenities that cater to their needs. From cuisines that hail from all over the world to one that are from Malaysia, one can truly enjoy the variety of dishes they can find in Sri Hartamas. There is also a diverse option for grocery shopping. For those who enjoy cooking on their own and obtaining their own groceries, there are supermarkets such as Village Grocer, Sonia Fresh Mart and Kiara Supermarket that they can frequent. Sri Hartamas is a town that is still popular amongst young Malaysian professional and expatriate families despite the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 that lasted till 1999; where there was a decline in expatriates as they moved back to their home country. Unlike other parts of Malaysia, Sri Hartamas is a town that does not have a majority group of people living here as it is diverse and balanced. Just as the vibrant daily life of those living in Sri Hartmas is, the night life is also as lively. There are a wide range of restaurant and bars that have taken home that is infused with the expatriates cultures such as Japanese, Thai and American.

Sri Hartamas has become a sought after residential township for expatriates. As such, school that are up to par and of higher standards have begun to take root in Sri Hartamas. There are international and public school that families can take into consideration when deciding to reside in Sri Hartamas. There are schools such as Garden International School, Taylor’s University College Sri Sri Hartamas Campus and SRI College are one of the many options for international schools. As for public schools, families can opt for schools such as SK Seri Hartamas, SMK Seri Hartamas and SummerFields Preschool.
