Paya Terubong is a modest town located in the equally modest town of Air Tawar in Penang. A hilly area, its once impractical landscape is now location of some residential estates. One of the few places that contain high rise apartments in the whole of Seberang Perai, it is naturally sought after and thus highly populated. Also a factor for this is that the housing is within an affordable range. The more upscale residencies are actually landed properties, recently built. Amenities for the area are scattered between it and its bordering towns, particularly Relau and Farlim.
These include primary and secondary schools and basic convenience retail (an Econsave supermarket is present in Farim). Other main and important ones like hospitals and malls are located a little far out, in more urban areas like Bayan Lepas. There is the Paya Terubong Mosque though for Muslim residents. Getting around and about is easy thanks to Penang’s much developed road system that literally links all neighbouring areas together. The town is a short distance away from major road intersection, the Magazine Circus and has Rapid Penang service to boot.
