Sungai Dua (Penang Island)

Sungai Dua is a residential neighbourhhood within the city of George Town in Penang, Malaysia. Located 8.7 km (5.4 mi) south of the city centre, this neighbourhood borders Universiti Sains Malaysia to the north, Sungai Nibong to the east and Bukit Jambul to the west. Sungai Dua is named after an eponymous river, Sungai Dua, which runs through the area. Formerly an agricultural area, Sungai Dua was first developed as a residential neighbourhood in the 1970s, following the establishment of the adjacent Universiti Sains Malaysia. Beginning in the 1980s, high-rises, such as apartments and flats, were constructed within the neighbourhood to cater to the influx of university students.

Jalan Sungai Dua is the main thoroughfare within the neighbourhood, which is also served by Rapid Penang bus routes 301, 303 and 304. Aside from these routes, Rapid Penang launched a free-of-charge transit service in 2018, known as the Congestion Alleviation Transport (CAT), within Sungai Dua. Sungai Dua also enjoys accessibility to and from other parts of the island, with the Jalan Sultan Azlan and the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway being a few minutes from the property. Via these 2 main access ways, Bayan Lepas is approximately under 15 mins from the property, along with Batu Maung and the second Penang Bridge. In the other direction northwards, the Penang first Bridge is just under 5 minutes away, with Georgetown being about 20 minutes away

Some of the malls are Queensbay Mall, Bukit Jambul Complex, Sunshine Square and D’Piazza Mall. Education wise, Sungai Dua is also pretty well equipped as there quite a number of schools you can choose from to send you kids to and the distance is not that far as well. Some of them are Phor Tay High School, King’s Academy, Fairview International School, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Nibong and Sekolah Kebangsaan (Cina) Chong Cheng. In emergency cases, residents and tourist can always visit any of the clinics that are in the area as well as there is a number of clinics provided as well. Some of the clinics are Sungai Dua Health Clinic, Klinik Health Plus, Poliklinik Perdana, Klinik Pekaka and Klinik Universiti.
