The simple Snake Plant (also known as ‘Lidah Jin’ in Bahasa Malaysia) became a viral sensation on social media a few months back, thanks to various claims that it was able to improve indoor air quality by process of filtration.
And because of the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic that took thousands of lives, Malaysians everywhere rushed to fill their homes with the plant, causing it to be sold out across all shops!
If you wanted to jump on the bandwagon and get a few of those plants for yourself, you can check out the list we’ve provided for you below.
PropertyGuru Tip
BEWARE: Snake Plants contain an active substance known as ‘Saponin’, which can cause vomitting, diarrhoea, and rashes if accidentally consumed, according to the National Poison Centre.
Alternatively, there are plenty of other gorgeous indoor plants for sale that you can choose from, which are also easy to care for!
Editor’s note: The list below has been arranged alphabetically, for easier reference.
1) Akar Plant Studio
Carrying a variety of the most popular indoor plant types like Monstera, Peace Lily, and Calathea, this shop based in Subang Jaya also stocks that crowd favourite: Snake Plant!
Each plant you purchase comes with the following complementary items:
- Ceramic pot and saucer
- Care instructions for the plant
- Organic soil
- One sachet of fertiliser
To order, you can direct message them on their Instagram or WhatsApp them at +60 11-5649 3307. After confirmation, you can either have them deliver it to you, or you can arrange for self-pickup at their shop in Subang Jaya.
2) Concrete Dezign
Founder, designer, and model maker Harley Simon Danker started off as a freelance architect and owner of another business model selling bracelets.
It was only after he realised that he greatly enjoyed the process of creating mini concrete accessories, and the launch of his products on Instagram received encouraging response, that he founded Concrete Dezign.
The pieces he creates all have that chic minimalistic look, with clean lines and simple finishes. He also sells little house plants that go well with his handcrafted pots, which you can check out on his Instagram or on his Facebook.
3) Doro
Specialising in beautiful succulent arrangements that capture the simplistic wonders of nature, each one is a piece of art in its own right.
Doro (which is a translation of a Greek word, meaning ‘Gift’) also sells two types of planter pots for those who want a touch of the whimsical: a handsewn Hessian pouch, or handcrafted from selected natural wood.
The former comes with a house plant of your choice, while the latter comes with a handpicked piece of succulent. See more of their pretty designs, and unique bouquets (check out that tiny pineapple stalk), on their Instagram or on their Facebook!
4) Hera Bloom
This shop doesn’t just specialise in selling indoor plants, they actually categorise them according to the level of maintenance required, including “Hard to Kill” (Admin needs this)!
They believe that one of the best self-care gifts for yourself or a loved one is that of a cute little house plant, as it is “a gift they’ll actually keep” (hard to argue with that logic).
You can choose from a wide variety of plants as well as stunning blooms in the form of bouquets. Here’s their Instagram or even their Facebook to help you browse through their delightful selection and make your choices.
5) Mossarium
For something out-of-the-ordinary, why not choose plants that are carefully potted in gorgeous glass terrariums of varying sizes and shapes? Not only would they make a perfect centrepiece, they’re Instagram-worthy!
These come with their own special themes, such as Zen Garden, Lakeside Garden, Waterfall Rainforest, and Midori Forest, to name just a few.
You can contact them via their Instagram or through their Facebook to place an order for your very own mini greenhouse, or find out about their workshops and DIY kits.
6) Plant And Pot Studio
Featuring an extensive catalogue of indoor plants for basically anywhere in your home – from the balcony and the bathroom, to pet-friendly and edible plants – you’re going to be spoilt for choice.
The leafy green baby you had your eye on is out of stock? Don’t worry, just check back every week as they update new and restocked plants in order to satisfy all the green thumbs out there.

7) Plants & Co
Yet another Instagram feed that has been curated to be as aesthetically appealing as possible, the plants for sale here include (yes, you guessed it), the famous Snake Plant!
While they only have a select range available that’s not yet comprehensive, as they were just launched this year, each plant comes with its own classic pot and saucer.
Check out the prices and sizes on their Instagram, and contact them to arrange for delivery to your doorstep (within Klang Valley only).
8) Pokokaktus.my
Next on our list is the only shop that sells the often-misunderstood cactus plant! With a tagline that reads, “Capturing the refined beauty of nature from leaves to thorns”, who says the spiky ones can’t have a lil’ loving too?
Depending on the space you have at home, you can choose to buy both indoor and outdoor plants, so that you have a seamless flow of greenery.
Their eye-catching Instagram feed as well as their Facebook page not only showcases their own photos as well as those from their happy clients, their full catalogue is there for you to browse through and make your selections.
9) Poppety Pot
Are you already on the way to becoming a Crazy Plant Person? This shop surely hopes so! Stocking house plants in the cutest, most eclectic mix of pots, it’s going to be difficult for you to choose only one or two.
Apart from those you can hold in your hands, they also sell larger varieties that would do well outside of the home, like Weeping Fig and Monstera.
As they do not have a standard selection or catalogue to choose from, you’re going to have to check their Instagram or their Facebook page regularly to stay updated on what’s available.
10) Pretty Plants KL
Would you look at that, another shop that stocks the Snake Plant! Regularly updating their Instagram page with the varieties available for sale, you’re going to have to be fast if you want one of these green babies.
From the low maintenance plants like the Pothos Silver Satin (relative to the more famous Golden Pothos), to the fussier ones like the Variegated String of Pearls, there’s a plant for all levels of expertise.
Don’t forget to check out their minimalistic Instagram page for what’s on sale, plus ordering and choosing whether you want them to deliver, or self-pickup at Shah Alam or Setiawangsa.
11) Pulpy Garden
Dubbed as an “urban plant shop for urban plant lovers”, it was founded by Josephine, better known as Josuccs. With an impressive inventory to choose from, they believe that finding the perfect plant for your home should be easy and convenient.
Whether new or seasoned plant parents, you can choose from the standard leafy greens to succulents, and even buy pots on their own. They also provide a simple care guide card for each purchase.
Keep up-to-date with their Instagram page or via their Facebook page, and place your orders via that platform for delivery to your doorstep within 24 hours with their own personal rider!
12) The Travelling Sisterhood
Named as such because this home-based shop is run by two sisters, Beth (the plant whisperer/creative brain) and Charlene (the plant killer/practical brain).
They specialise more in the medium to larger versions of plants, and the species they sell can be placed indoors or even outdoors – they’ll look regal, regardless!
At the time of writing, they’re offering free delivery within PJ and KL, so you’d better make the most of this deal. Head on over to their Instagram feed or check out their Facebook page to see what’s on offer.
13) Uproot Plants
Rounding up our list is this shop located in Bandar Kinrara, Puchong. With a similar, aesthetically pleasing look that borders on the austere, they have on offer indoor plants, pots, and other plant accessories.
They’re able to deliver your purchases within the same day, as long as you place your orders within store operating hours and the items are in stock.
If you’re looking for something that’ll make a lovely contemporary statement piece in your home, look no further than their Instagram page or have a looksee at their Facebook, which is chock-a-block with all things stylish.
Now that you’ve got your green thumbs all happy with a supply of some of the best indoor plants, why not find out which herbs can be easily grown in your own home too, so that you can make your tummy happy next!
