Situated on the southern tip of Malaysia is Iskandar Malaysia, a development that is currently going through much upgrades. Aiming to be of international interest to foreign purchasers, Iskandar Puteri is a focus point of education, entertainment and lifestyle. And situated in Iskandar Puteri is where the major focus of education will be located – at Educity.

As of the year 2017, there are many new and upcoming developments in Johor that aim to attract foreign buyers from China, Singapore, Thailand and the United States. The major attraction for foreigners is the prestigious living at Iskandar Puteri, and for their children superior education at affordable prices.

Educity is the fully integrated education hub in Iskandar Puteri, recognised as an Entry Point Project (EPP) under the National Key Economic Area (NKEA). Of the universities currently situated within Educity are Raffles University Iskandar, Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia and Management Development Institute of Singapore.

Situated within the general area are also the Netherlands Maritime Insititute, Southhampton University, Reading University and Marlborough College where Kate Middleton, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was educated.

However, these are just the postgraduate institutions. For those who are still at the lower education tier, there are many international schools to choose from. As of November 2016, there are 14 different international schools, in Johor Bahru, where parents can choose from the Tenby Schools, Excelsior International School, Seri Omega Private & International School, Raffles American School, Fairview International School, Austin Heights Private & International School and Sunway International School among others.

These schools of prestige are an attraction not just to foreigners from further lands, but also to Singaporeans who are now able to send their children to school just across the border on a daily basis yet still continue living within Singapore.

Despite the many international schools available, there are however some parents who will still prefer that their children obtain a local education. For these parents, there are also a variety of good quality local education located within Iskandar Puteri.

One of the local favourites is Sekolah Kebangsaan Medini which serves as a secondary school, and its neighbouring SK Medini which caters to primary age students. Aside from that, there are 75 other primary schools, 41 secondary schools and 17 Chinese medium primary schools.

Studying in Iskandar Malaysia comes with many advantages, and not least for foreigners is the more affordable prices due to the comparatively weak Malaysian currency. For foreigners who are sending their children to boarding school in the country, Iskandar Puteri is a good option for its international level of education quality, and for those who are immigrating to Malaysia, Iskandar Puteri will offer more than the usual variety of options with the number of universities in Iskandar Puteri.
