Puchong is a popular district in the Klang Valley, popular for its affordable housing and great local food. It is a district that is located approximately 25 kilometres southwest of Kuala Lumpur, and enjoys proximity to Bukit Jalil, Kinrara, Kuala Lumpur, Cyberjaya, Putrajaya and Subang. Connected extensively by highways and public transportation, traversing in and out of Puchong is very convenient.
Being a self-sustaining district, residents of Puchong want for nothing living here – whether for banks, education, entertainment or medical needs. Situated within the Puchong town where the popular IOI Mall is located, is the commercial area of the district. All the local banks are located here, with there being the Alliance Bank, Affin Bank, Ambank, CIMB bank, RHB Bank, Public Bank, Maybank and even a UOB Bank. There is also a HSBC bank and Citibank branch located here.
And situated in the heart of the commercial areas, these banks are surrounded by all forms of conveniences, from eateries to cafes, and massage parlours to recreational centres. Of some of the more popular eateries here is the Fu Gua Thong restaurant for a bitter melon experience, the Foo Hing Dim Sum House for some of Klang Valley’s best Portuguese egg tarts, and the Yong Tau Foo bonanza at night in Batu 14 of Puchong.
The other local favourites include the non-halal Old School, the Shi Yue Tian chicken rice, Zok Noodle House, and the Lin Kee curry noodles at Bandar Puchong Jaya.

Food is a big attraction in Puchong, and it shows even in the shopping centres. For example, SetiaWalk which is a great place to relax at with its many bars and water features, is also popular for its rare Pokemons and variety of restaurants. Cuisines of all nationalities can be found at this haven, and opposite the road a short distance away at IOI Mall.
Upcoming a short drive away in Bukit Jalil will be even more shopping malls in the future for residents of Puchong, in form of Paradigm Garden City which will incorporate a shopping mall among serviced residences, and the Pavilion shopping mall in Bukit Jalil City.
Puchong is however not all about food and play – it is also home to medical institutions. The available medical centres located within the town are the Columbia Asia Hospital Puchong, and the KPMC Puchong Specialist Centre which was previously known as KPMC Puchong Medical Centre. For a more comprehensive range of hospitals, the Subang Jaya Medical Centre is only approximately 12 kilometres away from the SetiaWalk area and the Sunway Medical Centre at approximately 7 kilometres and 10 minutes.
In lieu of grocery shopping, residents of Puchong enjoy 2 hypermarkets in their midst in form of Giant and Tesco Extra. For shoppers who prefer fresher goods, there is also the wet market by the name of Puteri Mart at Bandar Puteri beside the MBA Stadium. The other stadium in Puchong is the Michael’s Badminton Academy, Malaysia’s privately owned biggest badminton stadium of 32-badminton courts in Bandar Puteri Puchong.
With Bukit Jalil enjoying heavy development as of 2017, Puchong is expected to become increasingly prosperous in the coming years.
