  Budget-Friendly Ownership in Johor Bahru

  I bought a unit here as an entry-level property because prices were affordable (~RM 230k–280k for ~950 sq ft). (edgeprop.my ) It’s freehold, which is a plus in JB. Rental demand exists from working professionals in Larkin and hospital staff nearby, but yield is moderate. The downside is age and inconsistent maintenance — some blocks better than others. Worth it only if you budget for renovation.

  Location Wins, Building Aged

  My parents have a unit in Scott Towers and the biggest plus is access — near Larkin Sentral, schools, hospital, and major roads. The building is around 30 years old, so elevators and common areas sometimes show wear. Parking is limited for guests. If you want convenience and affordability, it works. If you’re expecting high-end finishes, not so much.

  Good Value in Larkin’s Core

  We’ve stayed here for a few years mainly because of the central location — close to Larkin Sentral, the stadium, and the city. The apartment itself is old but spacious; our 3-bed unit (~950 sq ft) still works for small families. Facilities are basic — pool, playground, 24-hour security — but maintenance can be patchy depending on the block. For the rent we pay, it’s fair, just don’t expect anything modern.
