PropertyGuru Q1 Sentiment Survey: Speak your mind

Posted on 03 March 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, 3 March 2013 - Leading property portal PropertyGuru brings back its quarterly sentiment survey for Q1 2013, which aims to capture general perception of consumers on the current real estate climate in Malaysia.

The public is invited to speak their mind through this online survey, which runs from 15 February to 15 March. Respondents can take the online survey within just five minutes, and get a chance to win a Nexus 7 tab.

For Q1, the survey will touch hot property topics including perceptions towards governments’ policies on foreigners buying property in Malaysia. According to some experts, Malaysian prices are deemed reasonable; hence Singaporeans are expected to buy real estate here. However, the newest cooling measures in the city-state could possibly have an impact on Malaysia property, either in the short-term or otherwise.

Locally, the general election as well as possible new restrictions on foreign property buying may also hinder investments.

In the Q4 2012 edition of the survey, 75 percent of respondents said all property types are expensive while almost three in every four people felt that the government is not making sufficient action on soaring prices.

Other findings include, 76 percent of those polled expect property prices to increase in the next half year. Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang topped the best property destinations.
