Dear Sirs, if i have a budget of RM1,000,000/-, should i go for a big unit and collect one set of rent; or should i buy two smaller units and collect two sets of rent. Thanks and best regards.

Its depands on your ablity of yourself.
secondly you need decide how much of return you want.
For example if you buy 2 storey shop selling around 800k to 1mil. at the same time the rental also is very much diffrence.
