Hi PropertyGuru,
I came across your blog post "Tenant Rights In Malaysia, And Important 7 Do's And Don'ts!" and this paragraph:

"Let’s stress again – if you terminate a rental contract agreement early, you may be liable for the full rental payments due for the remaining term of the contract."

I understand that if a contract agreement is terminated early, I am liable for the rest of the rental for the entire duration of the contract. However, may I know what happens when the contract ends on 3 March and I move out on 3 March?

My landlord claims that I have to give her 2 month's notice before moving out? I informed her on 18 February that I was moving out on 3 March.

There is a clause in the contract:
"Should the tenant desire to terminate the tenancy, the tenant may only do so after the determined date. The tenant may then give TWO (2) months' notice in advance, in respect of such termination or TWO (2) months' rent in lieu thereof."

May I know if I am liable to pay 2 months extra rent after March??
