We bought a new apartment unit 3 years ago from a well established developer. The unit however has been experiencing several sewerage overflow from the bathroom that flooded the whole apartment. With that situation we do not feel safe to move in nor think its easy to sell-off thus left apartment untouched especially when Covid lockdown make any work difficult.
When the sewage flood first occurred, it happened while the developer was doing other repair works in the bathroom thus we think they did the relevant clean-up. However, in a latest flooding recently, while still within a few more days defect warranty period, we filed a complain with the developer but they now conveniently assumed it is a building manager issue thus will not take responsibility.
Knowing the building manager, they will not clean-up back to a 'vacant unit' state with wooden doors suffering bad water damage and some floor tiles retaining the flood stain. Furthermore the building manager has given a cynical advice to take insurance to cover future loses if we move in.
Looks like I was handed over an unsafe and inhabitable apartment unit that not even good for storage use.
What can I do now as a house buyer ?
