Port Klang is a bustling town in Klang Selangor. Port Klang is the main cargo port for Selangor state. It is located approximately 6km from town centre of Klang and is some 38km from Kuala Lumpur city centre. Port Klang is divided into 3 distintictive ports – South Port, West Port and North Port. Port Klang and Klang is known as a food haven especially amongst seafood lovers. Upmarket residences, Bandar Botanik is located in Port Klang.
Port Klang can easily be reached by road via Federal Highway and KESAS highway while it can also be reached by buses from out of town as well as the local bus line. The KTM train can also take you to the Pelabuhan Kelang station in about an hour from Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station. You can get around the area on foot as the town area is rather small, local buses, taxis or e-hailing.
Although it is the main port, there is nothing is not much amenities around the area except for some schools, eateries, recreational spots and shops. As mentioned, there are several schools in Port Klang such as SJKC Lee Min, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pelabuhan Kelang, SJKC Tshing Nian,Sekolah Kebangsaan St Anne’s Convent and SJKT Persiaran Raja Muda Musa.
Supermarkets are convenient places to get daily essential and groceries and here in Port Klang available supermarkets include Econsave @ Port Klang, Pasaraya Billion, Siang Ann Supermarket, 99 Speedmart Port Klang 3 and MyMydin Jalan Raja Muda Musa. In addition, shopping malls like Billion Shopping Centre and AEON Mall Bukit Tinggi offers a host of retail brands, entertainment, food and services option for the entire family. These two malls are popular places to hang out for families and young adults on weekends and school holidays. In addition, there is also GM Wholesale City a distance away.
Port Klang is also served by several community clinics like Klinik 1 Malaysia Pandamaran and Klinik Desa Telok Gong; private clinics such as Klinik Sella and Klinik Amir while Klang Hospital and Pantai Hospital Klang collectively serve the medical needs of the community.
For recreation purposes, there are the Pusat Mariner Pelabuhan Klang, Mangrove Point,Royal Klang Club, Kompleks Sukan Padamaran which houses among others a playground, running track, function rooms and more, the Padang Bola Kg Delek is nearby the complex and Kerongsang Park. In addition, a boat ride away takes you to Pulau Ketam a small fishing village where you get affordable and perhaps the freshest catch possible.
Needless to say, there are many choices when it comes to food in Port Klang and amongst some popular eateries include Restoran Port Villa Seafood,Restoran Tian Lee, Restoran Perlama Seafood, Kedai Makanan Laut Kebun Kelapa and Ah Lee Restaurant Pandamaran. Furthermore, most local head to Bagan Hailan area for good, affordable seafood.Other areas good for seafood are Pandamran and Teluk Gong, south of Port Klang. Meanwhile, nearby Klang town is great for steaming hot bow of Bak Kut Teh (herbal pork rib soup).
Around Port Klang are also several places of worship such as the Sam Tai Chu Temple, Kuil Sri Nagammal, Tharpanam Port Klang, Bethel Presbyterian Church and Surau As Sajidin.
