Project Details

Mont Residence is expected to be completed in 2018 with two blocks of 38-storeys’ high towers.

Each floor would have 8 units facing North from the balcony with a conjoining corridor for all the units each floor.

We asked the salesperson why both the blocks are not separated, she informed that it is to avoid casualties, should accidents or fire break out. The passage serves as a safe escape route for all its residents.

For those who are unfamiliar with Mount Erskine but have heard about it, the mention of Mount Erskine would bring to mind the many cemeteries laying around the area that enjoy some of the most amazing views of Penang.

Mont Residence is built slightly off from these cemeteries on the hilly side of Mount Erskine.
To be exact, it is right beside Charlie Market and is surrounded by trees and is very peaceful.
It is only 5 to 10 minutes away from happening zones like Fettes Park, Tanjung Tokong, Seri Tanjung Pinang and Gurney Drive.

Surrounding Mont Residence would be local eateries, residential homes that have been around for decades and places of interest like the Straits Quay, Batu Ferringhi, Gurney Drive and 20 minutes to Georgetown.

Travelling there would be most convenient by car. Taking the bus there is also another option, if you are just a visitor, curious to find out more about the kind of location you are buying into.

People in Penang generally commute by bus so most routes should be covered.

Take a bus to the Charlie Market at Mount Erskine at Jalan Mount Erskine and the project is right on top of the hill. You may choose to take a hike (or drive) up from the market towards the site at the end of the narrow road.

The morning market is also within walking distance.

In addition to that, Mont Residence is strategically located within the established township of Tanjung Tokong. It is a stone’s throw away to the hospital, shopping malls, shops and every necessity imaginable.

After all, Tanjung Tokong is one of the most livable places in Penang. There is little to complain about when the location alone has full access to everything on clean open roads, via public transportation and surrounded by hotspots filled with activities.

The neighbourhood of Mount Erskine

Apart from that, the residents at Mount Erskine have been around for the longest time despite its close proximity to the cemeteries. These are old-timers who have become rooted to their hometown and identities shaped by the more tranquil side of Penang.

Unlike normal celebrations, Mount Erskine sees more activity during the Qingming Festival. Since 19th century, every year during this season, the Chinese community of Penang will make their annual visits to their ancestors’ places of burial. Vehicles will pour into Jalan Mount Erskine and descendants come to clean the graves of their loved ones and pay their respects.

More recently, the top of Mount Erskine has been flattened to make way for the construction of Mont Residence. From the property’s vantage point, the view of the cemeteries are hidden and cannot be seen.

Judging from the geographical factors of Tanjung Tokong’s inner vicinity where it is mainly surrounded by the green lung, it would be fair to estimate that developments would take place at a slower pace compared to the livelier parts of Penang.
