The township was initially developed by Sime Pilmoor Development Sdn. Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Berhad in 1999. It is managed by Sime UEP Development Sdn Bhd. The sweeping land area of 739-acre (2.99 km2) is massive, becoming one of the largest developing township in Petaling Jaya today.
Ara Damansara is connected by a number of major routes in Klang Valley. It is strategically located at the north and west of New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), east of Subang Airport Highway, south of Puncak Alam Highway. It is also served by Federal Highway and the Subang Jaya-Kelana Jaya Interchange. Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) also provides entrance leading to Ara Damansara. The exact location of the township sits between the Saujana Golf and Country Club and the Tropicana Golf and Country Club.
Accessibility into the township is via the six-lane dual carriageway Subang Airport Highway and Subang Kelana-Link interchange. Due to its developing stature, Ara Damansara enjoys smaller shopping malls compared to its neighbouring townships such as Bandar Utama or Sunway. There are only two malls in Ara Damansara which are Citta Mall and the recently opened Evolve Concept Mall. Citta Mall consists of mostly eateries and cafes with a handful of convenience specialties such as Watson’s, The Ace Hardware Store, Harvey Norman and My News.

There are also other small shops such as kindergarten, gymnasium, furniture shops, hair studios, money changer, ATMs and some fashion outlets. The concentration of restaurants and eating outlets and the size of the mall are probably what limit the variety of other shops. However if you’re a food connoisseur, you will love it here as there are a variety of selections ranging from Chinese to Western, fast food, Italian, Korean, local and many other cafes. The former grocery store Presto has been closed down and Village Grocer is under construction and will open soon.
Evolve Concept Mall which was opened in 2015 is also situated in Ara Damansara. With tenant listings such as H&M and FOS, residents get to enjoy shopping without going out of the area. However, selections are still limited compared to neighbouring giants such as One Utama and Sunway Pyramid. The good thing about Evolve Mall is it houses Jaya Grocer, which provides an option for Ara Damansara residents apart from the conventional Tesco Extra.
Ara Damansara is home to a selection of top-notch education facilities in Klang Valley. The region presents names such as the famous Japanese School of Kuala Lumpur, IOP International PreSchool and Asia Pacific Smart School. For those of you looking for a relaxing spa treatment, head over to The Club at Saujana. There is another golf club on the other side of Ara Damansara, which is the Tropicana Golf and Country Club.

Since its inception in 1999 till today, its landscape has been sculpted to incorporate a number of high-end properties such as the private residential bungalows of Damansara Lagenda, Idaman Villas and also Seri Pilmoor 2 and ½ storeys bungalows. Each of the developments caters to the higher-end society and costs over millions. Slightly lower price range condominiums are also on the rise such as the Maissson, H20, Cantara Residences, Potpourri and the recently completed Ara Green.

Compared to established townships such as Damansara Perdana and TTDI, the price per sq. ft. in Ara Damansara is still relatively low. A RM700 per sq. ft in Ara Damansara is equivalent to around RM1000 per sq. ft. in Damansara Perdana due to its developing status. In terms of property appreciation, one can be sure this is a well-to-do area considering its society class. The current rental yield in Ara Damansara ranges from 4% to 5%.

Summary
Potpourri and Ara Greens are another two major projects in Ara Damansara. For those of you who are familiar with See Hoy Chan, you will know that they are the pioneer of Damansara Uptown and many esteemed developments in Bandar Utama such as Bukit Utama 9 and Effingham. Ara Greens on the other hand is developed by a group of doctors turned developers, famous for its Souled Out restaurant and Somerset Ampang apartments. Oasis Rio carries a heftier price per sq. ft. compared to the other two developments. In terms of maintenance fees, all 3 seem to fare the same. If you are looking for a cheaper price per sq. ft. Potpourri might be the one to go for rather than Oasis Rio. However, some might prefer the unshakable reputation of a well-known developer such as Sime Darby Brunsfield and having the recognition of being part of the whole Oasis development in Ara Damansara. The choice is yours.
