Hi Gurus and experts, I just booked a newly launch serviced apartment in Shah Alam with a 7% discount (project discount). When I clarify with the salesperson he says that my unit will be most likely to be classified as a bumi quota unit upon completion to adhere the 30% bumi allocation set by the state government. The issue is I don't want my unit being classified as a bumi unit (as I plan to sell of later) and they refused to provide a consent letter to support my request and to add on my concern the developer also has confirmed that they won't rebate me if it is happen (being classified as a bumi unit upon completion). Now I'm in dilemma whether I should proceed to buy the project since I paid the booking or escalate it to the properties consumer bodies since they will classify my purchase as bumi unit although I didn't get bumi discount( on top of 7% project discount) Highly appreciate your advise. Thanks Gurus

This are the rules for some developer to maintain the quota 30:70. But if the buyer are generally chinese and then if you are bumi its very likely but the buyer most of them is bumi the developer will have choice. I have made a call to a developer for an apartment im trying to bid in auction. The developer mention as long as the quota of 30% non bumi did not reach i can buy. They dont mark the designated unit is bumi or non bumi. Only by quota. Hope it clarify. Or there r some no quota at all its open everyone can sell as they like regardless bumi or non bumi unit. Hi Wai Yen thanks for the comment..however, would buyer have choice not to be classified/included in bumi quota although he's bumi in the 1st place.
