I know it used to be a minimum of spending 500,000 RM for a foreigner to buy residential property in most of Malaysia. I heard the other day that they have since changed that rule to no limit. Is this true?

Not that I know. Still above RM500,000 threshold for foreigner's purchase. In fact there are talks that the threshold will be increased to curb excessive speculation by foreigners.
