I paid for security deposit and 2 months rental for an empty unit to be fully furbished back in mid Dec 2021 before my tenancy agreement commenced on 25 Dec 2021 to 24 March 2022.
Upon inspecting the said unit with the agent on 26 Dec, the furnishings had issues (small fridge, no mattresses, poor water pressure for washing machine). Agent demanded for the utility bill in advance and was paid on 26 Dec. Landlord cannot fix the water pressure issue and refuse to change the fridge, I decided to not move in at all. Landlord refused to refund the 2 months rental fee. Is this allowed or against the law, for the landlord to refuse refund of the 2 months rental paid in advance when I have not stayed in the unit? I feel ripped off.
