I understand that, it's only seller who has to pay for the property agent's commission in KL. But let say if I want to engage a property agent to search for a condo/serviced residence in KL for me (based on my budget, location, potential of rental income, etc.), how much would I have to pay for his/her service?

Dear Sean,
Our Board of Valuers, Appraisers & Estate Agents regulation states that estate agents can collect a fee from one party only to avoid any conflict of interest in professional representation. A buyer can also hire the agent's services to find a suitable property based on the same scale fees of up to 3% of the purchase price to be mutually agreed. Most agents derived their fees from the owners only because it is a common practice that owners of properties hires agents to sell on their behalf.
