Dear Landlord,
This is unheard of! A tenant will remain a tenant and it does not matter how long unless the tenant fully purchased the property. A person with a caveatable interest eg.a buyer who paid a down payment to purchase a property or a person who has a registrable interest in that property can lodged a caveat. A caveat is to stop further dealings on the property without the caveator's knowledge and it is not ownership.
