Recently I applied for home loan with 2 banks to see which will get approved and which one has the better offer. When both banks approved, I end up choosing one and rejecting the other. I chose based on the lower monthly repayment.

Now, the bank which I rejected insisted that I need to write a letter as to why I do not accept the offer, otherwise the information of the pending approval loan will remain in my CCRIS report with BNM. I have not signed anything beforehand and I didn't know this is actually a thing? When I told the officer my reason, he said that it was not a strong reason since the difference between the loan isn't much. But money is still money. Rm60 for 420 months accumulates to a lot of money to me.

So will this affect my CCRIS in the future? As far as I know, as long as you have not signed the agreement, there should not be a problem if I chose not to carry on with the loan, isn't it?
