Under the practice, Real Estate Negotiator supposed to collect 2% or maximum of 3% booking fees from the total transact price and this amount is equivalent to their professional service fee (commission) plus 6% GST. Upon signing Sales & Purchase agreement, you are require pay the balance of the 10%. For example 3% paid for booking and balance 7% pay when signing SPA. However, my experience in Penang back then, the practice is different. It is somehow REN will collect from both landlord and purchaser. Therefore, from the ethical point of view, you are not required to pay the REN. Hope my answer helps. Read More
