KUALA LUMPUR, 28 September 2026 – Eastern & Oriental Berhad (“E&O”) has launched Legacy for Tomorrow (LFT), a long-term sustainability blueprint that brings together and formalises the Group’s longstanding efforts in responsible development, community engagement, sustainable design, and environmental stewardship.
Launched at E&O’s Seri Embun gallery in Elmina last weekend, LFT provides a Group-wide framework for how E&O embeds sustainability into the way it builds, operates, engages, and grows, with the aim of creating lasting value for its communities, stakeholders, and future generations.
At its core, LFT is founded on a simple belief: what we do today should benefit not only the present, but also the generations that follow.
The framework brings together five interconnected pillars of Community & Engagement, People Empowerment, Sustainable Innovation & Design, Environmental Stewardship, and Economic Viability & Growth, reflecting the broader dimensions of sustainability across E&O’s business.
The launch was marked by the inaugural Young Green Guardians programme at Seri Embun, City of Elmina, which brought together 130 students and parents for a morning of learning, creativity, and hands-on exploration around sustainability.
Through a Sustainable Product Design Workshop and Competition, students explored different types of plastics and considered how material choices, product design, and creativity can contribute to more sustainable solutions.
“Legacy for Tomorrow reflects the way we have always looked at the future, not simply in terms of what we create today, but what it can mean for the people, communities, and generations that follow. As we move forward, LFT gives us a broader lens to bring together these longstanding values and consider how they can continue to shape the way we think, create, and grow. Ultimately, it is about leaving behind more than what we build – a legacy that carries meaning into the future,” said Kok Tuck Cheong, Managing Director of Eastern & Oriental Berhad.

FROM HOW WE DESIGN TO HOW WE LIVE

Holding the inaugural programme at Seri Embun provided a tangible setting for participants to explore how sustainability can extend beyond individual products and into the places where people live.
Set within a 36-acre hillside enclave and bordered by a 2,700-acre forest reserve, Seri Embun brings together nature, wellness, community, and residential living. Its clubhouse provides a shared space for recreation and community interaction, while its three-storey homes are designed to support multi-generational living and evolving family needs. The development also incorporates future-ready considerations, including solar energy and EV charging infrastructure.
These elements reflect the broader thinking behind LFT: that sustainability encompasses not only environmental outcomes, but also how we design, how we live, how communities connect, and how places evolve with changing needs.
“Through Young Green Guardians, we hope to give students the opportunity to learn, create, and think differently about sustainability. Today, they are exploring something as simple as plastic and product design, but the bigger lesson is that the choices we make today can shape the world we leave for tomorrow. This is what Legacy for Tomorrow is about,” said Ms. Kit Lim, Deputy General Manager of Branding & Communications, Eastern & Oriental Berhad, during the event.
With 130 students and parents participating in its inaugural programme, Young Green Guardians demonstrates how LFT can translate E&O’s broader sustainability direction into meaningful community engagement.
The principles behind LFT can also be seen across the places E&O creates. Seri Embun reflects the Group’s focus on nature, community, wellness, and multi-generational living, while Andaman Island represents its longer-term vision for an integrated island community shaped around liveability, connectivity, and a strong sense of place.
Through Legacy for Tomorrow, E&O will continue to bring together its longstanding values and practices while exploring how the places it creates can deliver value beyond the physical development for the people who live in them, the communities around them, and the generations that follow.
