You need to check the quit rent, assessment, electricity, water and sewerage charges. You are not responsible for the telephone bills owing by the previous owner. In fact, you can also apply for new electricity and water supply accounts and let the utility companies deal with the previous account holder on the outstanding utility bills because the previous owner would have paid deposits for the supply. The places to verify as follows:-
1. Quit Rent - Land Office under the jurisdiction
2. Assessment - Local Council Office
3. Sewerage Charges - Indah Water Konsortium,
Pusat Bandar D'sara Heights
4. Electricity - Tenaga Nasional Berhad
5. Water supply - Syabas, Jalan Templer,P.Jaya
It is best to have the previous billings for account number references or the full title details or the full address of the property.
