Hi All, i am a singaporean working in malaysia and my wife is a malaysian. we are joining names for this purchase of property in selangor. Can anyone advise if we still need to follow the minimum purchase of 2m for foreigner since we are joining name?

Hello. As long as your name appears as the jpint purchaser, the purchase is deemed a foreigner purchase whereby a consent is needed from the State Authority is required and the threshold for foreigner's purchase need to be followed. The foreigner threshold in Selangor has been reduced to RM1.5 million (previously RM2 million) for the time being for about 1 year period.
