I agreed to rent a property after I saw the advertisement on Mudah.com

However I am now being asked to pay commission of half month rental to this agent.

Should I pay? I didnt hire him to search for me, but I found the advertisement myself.

Because me that I decided rent, he got the income from owner.

So should I still pay?

If you did not appoint the agent to help you find a property to rent for a fee then you are not legally bound to pay the fee unless you subsequently agree with the agent in writing. Usually agents who advertise properties for rent or sale are already hired by the Owners and a fee has been agreed to be paid by the Owner. Under our professional practice, we are not allowed to collect fees from both parties for the same transaction as there may be a conflict of interest. Both parties must consent to it if that occurs.
