I want to buy a retirement home in Malaysia. I've been told that as well as the purchase price I will need funds to 'make the house my own' and provide my own air con., light fittings, kitchen etc and that this is standard practice in Malaysia. Is this correct and about how many MYR would i have to spend?

Jennifer,
In Malaysia, some lifestyle and high end houses and condominiums are already fitted with air-conditioners,kitchen built-ins, built in wardrobes, cooker hob and hood except lightings which are usually based on personal taste.
You may also choose houses or condominiums which are not fitted out.
The prices of houses and condominiums varies from the type, size and location. I do have fully fitted and furnished bungalows for sale from RM4.5 million onwards or renovated terrace house for RM860,000 onwards in Kuala Lumpur/Petaling Jaya. Please email me your requirement to quantum6@streamyx.com and I will advise you further. Thank you
