Gurun

Gurun is a township located in Kuala Muda district in the state of Kedah.

Gurun can be reached via the North-South Expressway as well as by rail, express buses, or taxis. Gurun has its own railway station a stone’s throw away from the town centre and its served by KTM and the Electric Train Service allowing faster travelling time to Gurun from Kuala Lumpur. Meanwhile, you can get around Gurun town by car, the local bus lines or taxis.

The Gurun’s main economic activities is the heavy industries and are home to various automotive factories such Naza Automotive Manufacturing Sdn Bhd which operates from the Gurun Industrial Area which also houses numerous other related automobile production facilities. As such, the industry creates ample job and investment opportunities for locals and foreigners alike. Other industries that drive the economy include tourism, agriculture, and cottage industries, though not in a big way.

Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Gurun Pusat is perhaps Gurun’s oldest school having been established since 1911. Other nearby schools include SMK Gurun, SJKC Choong Hwa, SK Sri Jerai and Insitut Kemahiran Langkasuka, a vocational training institution.

Gurun Market is the place to go for the fresh produce while Sheng Hin Trading, Pasaraya Aneka Gurun, Pasaraya Karnival, and Pasaraya Sukaramai offers the comfort of indoor shopping experience where you can find a wider range of products.
